The harm of jaundice that does not subside for 3 months

The dangers of jaundice that does not subside for 3 months are usually yellowing of the skin, yellowing of the sclera, darker urine, lighter stool color, paroxysmal vomiting, etc.

1. Yellow skin:

The reason why jaundice does not subside for 3 months is considered to be related to factors such as viral hepatitis and cholestasis. After the disease occurs, bilirubin will continue to accumulate in the body, causing yellowing of the skin.

2. Yellow sclera:

The sclera contains collagen fibers, which are usually tough and mostly white. If the bilirubin level in the serum continues to increase, the sclera will change from its original white color to yellow.

3. Dark urine:

Normal urine is light yellow, which is the product of the combination of urobilinogen or urobilin and polypeptide in the body. However, after becoming ill, as the bilirubin content in the urine continues to increase, the urine will turn dark yellow.

4. The color of stool becomes lighter:

If it is obstructive jaundice, it will cause compression of the common bile duct or other surrounding organs, resulting in poor bile excretion. Bile cannot participate in food digestion normally, and food residues and lighter stool color will appear.

5. Paroxysmal vomiting:

If jaundice is not controlled in time for a long time, it can easily cause damage to the gastrointestinal tract, thus causing paroxysmal vomiting.

If jaundice does not subside within 3 months, it is recommended to seek medical attention in time and complete relevant examinations, such as routine blood tests, liver function tests, routine urine tests, etc., in order to determine the specific cause and provide treatment.
