Why does neonatal jaundice occur repeatedly? Many children develop jaundice shortly after birth. Generally, it is not a big problem. It is physiological jaundice, which will slowly disappear after a few days. Neonatal jaundice may be caused by incomplete treatment, infection and drug damage, breast milk jaundice, etc., and requires symptomatic treatment. 1. Incomplete treatment Neonatal jaundice may be caused by incomplete treatment, such as neonatal hemolytic anemia. If the cause of the disease is not effectively eliminated, jaundice may disappear after treatment, but it will not disappear completely. Because of the abnormal increase in serum bilirubin and recurrent jaundice, the disease must be treated thoroughly. 2. Infection factors If the newborn is infected with bacteria or viruses, the liver cell function is also greatly damaged, and the liver cannot convert indirect bilirubin into direct bilirubin and then excrete it into the body, leading to this situation, or bile duct obstruction, so bile cannot be excreted and jaundice problems will recur. 3. Drug factors The liver of a newborn is not well developed and cannot metabolize some of the side effects of drugs, such as prochlorpera drugs, barbiturates, and chlorpromazine drugs, which can cause toxic hepatitis. Therefore, liver function will be damaged, causing recurring neonatal jaundice problems, so attention must be paid. 4. Breast milk jaundice If the newborn is not breastfed enough, meconium cannot be excreted in time, so the excretion of direct bilirubin will be reduced, and jaundice will recur. If the glucuronidase content in breast milk is high, direct bilirubin will be hydrolyzed into indirect bilirubin, which will be absorbed by the liver and the enterohepatic circulation will increase, so the jaundice problem will recur. The above introduction is the reason why neonatal jaundice recurs. After jaundice occurs, it must be treated thoroughly. Do not abuse medication and avoid infection. Correct breastfeeding is also required so that the jaundice problem can completely disappear and will not recur. |
