Key points to note when preventing mumps

The key points to note in preventing mumps are vaccination. Vaccination with the MMR vaccine or the mumps vaccine can prevent the occurrence of mumps. The mumps vaccine can produce up to 95% of antibodies. However, since the mumps vaccine belongs to the second category of vaccines, parents need to take their children to get vaccinated voluntarily and at their own expense, so some parents will ignore it.

1. Children are susceptible to mumps, so all children over 8 months old (those who have never had mumps or have not received mumps vaccine within 5 years), especially those aged 5-9, should get the mumps vaccine if their economic conditions allow. However, if a child has symptoms of acute or chronic infection, or cold symptoms such as fever and cough, it is not appropriate to get the mumps vaccine at this time. The vaccine should be given after recovery. In addition, children who are allergic to eggs are also not suitable for vaccination.

2. Let your child take Isatis root powder orally for preventive treatment for 3 to 5 consecutive days. At the same time, avoid letting your child come into contact with the sick child or use each other's items.

3. Pay attention to indoor ventilation and keep air flowing. 0.2% peracetic acid can be used for disinfection at home. Do not participate in large group activities during the epidemic.

4. Educate children to develop good personal hygiene habits, keep their hands clean, and wash their hands in the correct way. Participate in more physical exercise to improve physical fitness.

5. Cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze or cough, and clean up the secretions from your mouth and nose properly. Wash your hands immediately after they are contaminated by respiratory secretions (such as after sneezing).
