How to treat a child with a severe cough How to treat a child with a severe cough

The temperature fluctuates when the seasons change every year. At this time, children are prone to catching colds and coughing. Although coughing is a relatively common minor illness in life, the mothers are most worried about their children's coughs. Especially some children have severe coughs and it is difficult to stop coughing every time. So parents want to know what to do if their children have severe coughs and how to relieve them?

1. Steam cough relief

When a child has a severe cough, pay attention to the regulation of room temperature and humidity. Generally, the indoor temperature should be kept at around 20 degrees and the humidity at around 65%. When the cough is more serious every day, you can turn on the hot water in the bathroom, then close the doors and windows, and when the bathroom is full of steam, you can take the child inside for five minutes. This humid air can clear the mucus in the child's lungs, and then calm the cough symptoms. Of course, you can also go to a regular hospital for nebulization treatment.

2. Hot water bag back

This method is relatively simple to operate. You can pour hot water of about 50 degrees into the hot water bottle, then wrap it with a layer of dry towel and apply it to the baby's back, preferably near the lungs. This can drive away the cold and relieve the cough symptoms caused by colds.

3. Water chestnut and lily soup

When cooking this delicacy, you need to prepare not only water chestnuts and lilies, but also some rock sugar and snow pears. Peel the water chestnuts and set aside, wash the lilies and snow pears, and then boil the three ingredients together in water. Add rock sugar when they are almost done. Lilies have the effect of calming the mind and relieving coughs, water chestnuts can cool blood and remove blood stasis, and snow pears can nourish yin and moisten dryness. Taking the three together is rich in nutrition and can achieve the purpose of removing phlegm and relieving coughs.

4. Drink more water

Children should drink more water when they cough. You can reduce the amount of water each time you drink, but you should increase the frequency of drinking water. Only when the child is fully hydrated can the viscous secretions be diluted so that the child can cough it out. In addition, drinking water frequently can improve the body's blood circulation, which can accelerate the discharge of some toxins and wastes, thus reducing the burden on the respiratory tract.
