How does pneumonia manifest in children?

Newborns are prone to some diseases. We need to pay attention to the occurrence of pneumonia. Many children are prone to neonatal pneumonia. Once this disease occurs, it will affect breathing and development, causing constant coughing. I hope everyone will pay attention to it and regulate it effectively. So what are the common symptoms of neonatal pneumonia?

1. Atypical symptoms

The initial symptoms of neonatal pneumonia are not particularly obvious. The cough reflex of the newborn has not yet fully formed, the chest is relatively underdeveloped, and the respiratory muscles are weak. Therefore, when the disease occurs, there is little coughing, the respiratory movement is shallow, and the symptoms lack specificity. In addition, no lung sounds may be heard, and there may be no fever or fever or no rise in body temperature.

Difficulty in breathing may only manifest as apnea, irregular or shortness of breath, and cyanosis of the skin may occur when hypoxia is severe.

2. General characteristics

Neonatal pneumonia is generally manifested by shallow and rapid breathing, nodding breathing, flaring nostrils, cyanosis, foaming at the mouth, poor appetite, refusal to feed, choking on milk, listlessness or irritability, low response, vomiting, and abnormal body temperature. Foaming at the mouth of sick children is a manifestation of cough and asthma in neonates, which has certain clinical significance.

Pulmonary signs are often not obvious in the early stages. Occasionally, fine moist sounds may be heard on both sides of the spine or crackling sounds may be heard at the end of inspiration.

3. Severe illness

Infants with more severe neonatal pneumonia may experience difficulty breathing, nodding breathing, respiratory arrest, and chest concavity sign when inhaling. They may also refuse to eat, cry, have low body temperature, and may even suffer from heart failure and respiratory failure.

We need to pay attention to some common clinical symptoms and carry out treatment reasonably. In order to avoid causing more pain, we need to pay attention to some health care matters. Moreover, we must also pay attention to changes in body temperature to avoid poor appetite. Many children will also have difficulty breathing and are unwilling to breastfeed, which seriously affects the health of the children and makes parents very anxious.
