What causes jaundice in adults?

In real life, if someone's face turns yellow, it is better to go to the hospital for a check-up. Because in medicine, this condition is called "jaundice", which is a sign of bile duct diseases such as bile duct cancer. Don't ignore it. So what causes jaundice in adults?

When liver inflammation worsens, jaundice symptoms will appear. Does this mean that jaundice means liver inflammation? Some people also say that some newborns develop physiological jaundice shortly after birth due to massive destruction of red blood cells, which affects the liver's uptake of bilirubin.

There are many factors that cause jaundice. Viral hepatitis can cause jaundice, which is called hepatocellular jaundice. It can also be caused by congenital, systemic, toxic and other reasons. The details are as follows:

First of all, bile duct obstruction caused by stones, liver, gallbladder, pancreatic tumors and some other inflammatory diseases prevents bile from being discharged into the small intestine, which can cause jaundice.

Secondly, congenital metabolic enzyme and red blood cell hereditary defects, as well as excessive red blood cell destruction in the body caused by physical, chemical, biological, and immune factors, anemia, and hemolysis resulting in excess bilirubin raw materials in the blood can also produce jaundice.

In addition, bilirubin binding disorders in some liver cells can cause jaundice, such as jaundice caused by congenital hemolytic Gilbert's disease and jaundice caused by neonatal hemolytic disease; some infectious diseases such as sepsis, pneumonia and typhoid fever can sometimes cause jaundice; patients with severe heart disease and heart failure usually develop jaundice due to long-term congestion and swelling of the liver.
