What to do if children cough badly at night

When the seasons change, it is the peak time for colds. Colds can also cause coughs and other diseases. Some children even cough constantly at night, which makes mothers worry. Children's cough at night is a more troublesome disease, which has a greater impact on children's physical health and sleep. So, what should I do if my child coughs badly at night?

1. Frequently turn over or pat the child's back
This method can promote blood circulation in the lungs and loosen the phlegm in the bronchi, making it easier to discharge. Pat the back: The patient lies on his side or in the arms, and the parents bend their five fingers into a semi-circle, that is, half-clenched fists, and gently pat the patient's back, alternating between the two sides. The impact force should not be too great, from top to bottom, from outside to inside, in turn, pat each side for 3 minutes, 2 to 3 times a day.
2. Do not give cough medicine without knowing the cause of your child's cough . Some young parents find that their children have a slight cough, so they give their children various cough medicines and cough syrups. When the medicine enters the body, it can quickly act on the cough center and produce a strong cough suppressant effect. Although this method can temporarily relieve cough symptoms, it can cause a large amount of sputum and bacteria to accumulate in the respiratory tract, secondary bacterial infection, severe chest tightness, dyspnea, and even cause atelectasis, heart failure and life-threatening.

3. Seek medical attention promptly
If the child's cough has obvious inflammatory symptoms, such as fever, thick yellow sputum, leukocytosis, etc., antibiotics should be used promptly under the guidance of a doctor.
4. Moxibustion
If your child has a severe cough, you can try ginger and garlic water, give your baby a cup every day. At the same time, use moxa sticks to fumigate your baby's navel for 10 minutes, and drink a cup of warm water after the fumigation. Fumigate once a week. Pay special attention not to scald the child, do not eat cold food, and do not catch a cold. If your child has a poor appetite, you can drink loach soup. It replenishes qi deficiency and warms the spleen and stomach.

5. Diet therapy
Do not eat sweets, biscuits and other sweet foods. Cold, dry, and irritating foods, such as peanuts, melon seeds, and fried foods, should also be prohibited. Drink more warm water, which also has a good cough effect in the mouth. Stewed pears with rock sugar: Peel the fresh pears, cut them into pieces and remove the cores, add appropriate amount of rock sugar, steam them in a pot, and you can eat them. It has a good effect on moistening the lungs and relieving coughs.
