How to cure pneumonia in children

Pneumonia is particularly common in the neonatal period. More newborns will be affected by pneumonia, which brings them more pain. This disease is serious, so the occurrence and treatment of neonatal pneumonia should be taken seriously and more attention should be paid to the treatment measures of this disease. Read on to learn how pediatric pneumonia can be cured.

1. Oxygen supply

In case of hypoxemia, oxygen can be given by nasal cannula, mask, hood and nasal plug CPAP. In case of respiratory failure, mechanical ventilation can be performed to maintain the arterial blood PaO2 at 6.6510.7kPa (5080mmHg).

II. Airway Management

How to treat neonatal pneumonia? Experts say that in the treatment of neonatal pneumonia, attention should be paid to the child's nebulizer inhalation, postural drainage, regular turning over, patting the back, and timely suction of oral and nasal secretions to keep the airway open.

3. Anti-pathogen treatment

For bacterial pneumonia, antibiotics can be selected in the same way as for sepsis. For Listeria pneumonia, ampicillin can be used, for Chlamydia pneumonia, erythromycin is the first choice, for herpes simplex virus pneumonia, acyclovir can be used, and for cytomegalovirus pneumonia, ganciclovir can be used.

4. Supportive Therapy

Correct circulatory disorders and water, electrolyte and acid-base imbalances. The total daily infusion volume is 60-100 ml/kg. The infusion rate should be slow to avoid heart failure and pulmonary edema. Ensure adequate energy and nutrition supply. As appropriate, intravenous infusion of plasma, albumin and immunoglobulin should be performed to enhance the body's immune function.

Experts said that various pneumonias that occur after birth have a late onset and typical symptoms, including nasal congestion, cough, shortness of breath, and fever in full-term infants, but the body temperature may also be normal, and the body temperature of premature infants may not rise. Wet sounds of varying thickness can be heard in the lungs. When empyema or pyopneumothorax occurs, the breath sounds decrease, and percussion sounds are dull or the sound is enhanced. Pneumonia caused by different pathogens has its own characteristics.
