How to tell if it's hand, foot and mouth disease

To determine whether it is hand, foot and mouth disease, you can observe whether the patient has the following typical symptoms: First, fever. Patients with hand, foot and mouth disease usually have fever, and the body temperature may exceed 38 degrees Celsius; second, oral symptoms. The patient may have painful erythema, blisters or ulcers in the mouth, leading to difficulty swallowing; third, skin symptoms. Red maculopapules or blisters may appear on the hands, feet, buttocks and other parts. These rashes are usually not painful, itchy, and do not scab or scar.

In addition to observing symptoms, it is also necessary to judge based on the patient's contact history. Hand, foot and mouth disease is mainly transmitted through the digestive tract, respiratory tract and close contact. If the patient has a recent history of contact with a hand, foot and mouth disease patient, or lives in an area with a high incidence of the disease, the possibility of contracting hand, foot and mouth disease will increase.

In the judgment process, it is also necessary to exclude other diseases with similar symptoms. For example, oral ulcers may be similar to oral herpes, but oral ulcers are usually not accompanied by fever and hand and foot rash; chickenpox also causes rash and fever, but the rash of chickenpox usually appears on the trunk first and then spreads to the limbs, and the morphology of the rash is different from hand, foot and mouth disease.

If you suspect your child may have hand, foot and mouth disease, you should seek medical attention immediately and have a professional doctor diagnose and treat him. At the same time, parents should also pay attention to providing good care for their children, such as maintaining oral hygiene and avoiding scratching the rash to prevent secondary infection.
