How to care for children with colds

Children's colds generally refer to children's upper respiratory tract infections. Children's upper respiratory tract infections can be cared for by paying more attention to rest, increasing water intake, and adjusting diet. Medical treatment is also required during this period, otherwise the upper respiratory tract infection may continue to worsen and may even lead to complications.

Nursing measures for children with upper respiratory tract infection:

1. Pay more attention to rest: Upper respiratory tract infection in children is mainly caused by pathogen infection, which can cause symptoms such as fever and cough. During the illness, children need to pay more attention to rest, maintain adequate sleep time, and avoid strenuous exercise, which can promote recovery.

2. Increase water intake: Since the disease can cause fever in the body, prolonged fever can lead to water loss in the body. Therefore, it is necessary to increase the amount of water children drink to prevent dehydration and electrolyte imbalance by replenishing water.

3. Adjust diet: Children’s appetite will continue to decline during the illness, so they should adjust their diet and keep it light while maintaining normal nutritional supplements. This can improve physical fitness and alleviate clinical manifestations.

Treatment of upper respiratory tract infections in children:

If the body temperature continues to rise during the onset of the disease, physical cooling can be adopted, such as wiping the forehead and body with a cold towel to prevent the body temperature from continuing to rise. At the same time, antipyretic drugs can also be used according to the doctor's advice, such as ibuprofen suspension, acetaminophen granules, etc. If necessary, antiviral drugs should also be used in combination, such as oseltamivir granules, ganciclovir granules, etc.
