Symptoms of hand, foot and mouth disease in adults

Adults with hand, foot and mouth disease may experience fever, small blisters on the palms, soles of feet or mouth, accompanied by throat discomfort and loss of appetite. Those with severe symptoms are advised to seek medical attention promptly.

Hand, foot and mouth disease is an infectious disease caused by enterovirus, which is common in children, but adults can also be infected. The virus is mainly transmitted through contact with the saliva, blister fluid or excrement of the infected person, so it is easy to be infected among family members or close contacts.

Adults infected with the virus may experience fever, fatigue, general weakness, small red papules or blisters on the palms, soles or buttocks, and ulcers in the mouth, which may affect eating and speaking. Some patients may experience sore throats and mild headaches or nausea, but most are mild and do not require special treatment.

It is very important to maintain good personal hygiene, wash hands before and after meals, and do not share utensils or towels. If symptoms worsen, such as persistent high fever, severe spread of rash, or dehydration, go to the hospital for treatment as soon as possible. At the same time, pay attention to a balanced diet, adequate rest, and avoid contact with other susceptible people to reduce the risk of transmission.
