Can polio be cured?

Polio is a relatively serious disease that troubles the health of patients. Do not let the symptoms of polio worsen. If treatment is started only after the symptoms worsen, it will be very detrimental to the patient's subsequent health. Therefore, treatment for polio must be started as early as possible. Many patients will ask, can polio be cured? I hope that the following treatment methods can be of some help to patients with polio.

Treatment for polio

The first is general treatment. The patient should stay in bed for one week until the fever subsides, be isolated for 40 days, and avoid physical activities for at least 2 weeks. When lying in bed, use a footrest to keep the feet and calves at a correct angle to facilitate functional recovery. Symptomatic treatment measures can also be taken. Antipyretic analgesics and sedatives can be used to relieve systemic muscle spasms, discomfort and pain; apply hot compresses every 2 to 4 hours for 15 to 30 minutes each time; hot baths are also effective, especially for young children, and have a synergistic effect when used in combination with analgesics;

Treatment during the paralysis period is also critical. Drugs that promote nerve conduction function, such as dibazole, galantamine, and vitamin B12, are used for drug treatment. For secondary infections, appropriate antibiotics are used for treatment. Proper nutrition should also be provided. Nutritious diet and plenty of water should be given. If sweating is caused by excessively high ambient temperature or hot compresses, sodium salt should be supplemented. In case of anorexia, a gastric tube can be used to ensure food and water intake.

In addition, during the recovery period, active and passive exercises should be started as early as possible to prevent muscle atrophy. Acupuncture, massage and physical therapy can also be used to promote functional recovery. Severe limb deformities can be corrected surgically.

Through the above introduction to whether polio can be cured, we know that polio symptoms are generally not too severe in the initial stage. At this time, if polio is treated, the effect is also ideal. The above-mentioned disease-specific treatment measures are also expected to help the treatment of polio.
