What are the clinical examination methods for acute laryngitis in children?

What are the methods for clinical examination of acute laryngitis in children? Acute laryngitis in children is one of the more common pediatric diseases in life. It is more ferocious and dangerous than that in adults, so parents of children with the disease must not ignore its examination and treatment. So, what are the methods for clinical examination of acute laryngitis in children?

Acute laryngitis in children often starts suddenly and progresses quickly. If it is not diagnosed and treated promptly and effectively, serious complications and sequelae may occur. Therefore, once you are sick, you should go to the hospital as soon as possible. The key to the treatment of acute laryngitis is to relieve laryngeal obstruction as soon as possible, use effective and sufficient antibiotics to control infection as early as possible, give glucocorticoids to promote the disappearance of laryngeal edema, strengthen oxygenation, antispasmodics, expectorants and other treatments, and closely observe the child's breathing.

Direct laryngoscopy is one of the commonly used methods. It can be seen that the laryngeal mucosa is congested and swollen, the vocal cords are also congested and red, with dilated blood vessels, the glottis is often attached with viscous secretions, and the subglottic mucosa is swollen and protrudes to the middle to form a narrow cavity. However, children often cannot cooperate with this method, so it is rarely used in clinical practice.

If a child has acute laryngitis, you can also go for a secretion test. Laryngeal diphtheria may appear in the throat. The symptoms are not that fast. Generally, there will be a low fever, pale face, and mental fatigue. When checking the secretions, you can see diphtheria bacteria. These can all be detected.

Children should strengthen their nutrition, and be given high-protein, high-vitamin, easily digestible liquid or semi-liquid diets. Spicy and irritating foods should be avoided. When eating, prevent choking and coughing, avoid food choking into the trachea and causing discomfort, and pay attention to oral hygiene. Acute laryngitis in children is more common in winter and spring. Parents of children with acute laryngitis should be instructed to add or remove clothes for their children in time when the weather changes to prevent colds. If they feel unwell, they should seek medical treatment immediately to avoid delaying the disease.
