What are the symptoms of acute laryngitis in children? What are the obvious symptoms of acute laryngitis in children?

There are many symptoms of acute laryngitis in children, most commonly fever and cough. In the early stages of the disease, hoarseness is not particularly severe, and there will be wheezing when crying. If the inflammation spreads to the subglottic area, it will turn into a croup-like cough, and the symptoms will worsen at night. If the disease worsens, patients will experience symptoms such as difficulty breathing and irritability.

Acute laryngitis in children is a common inflammation of the pharyngeal mucosa, which is caused by viral and bacterial infections. When children have this disease, parents need to pay more attention. This symptom is more obvious and has a greater impact on the respiratory tract of children. If this disease is not treated in time, it will cause other more serious diseases. So what are the symptoms of acute laryngitis in children?

1. Difficulty breathing during activities.

When the child is quiet, he is the same as a normal person, with no obvious symptoms. When he is active, he will have difficulty breathing and hoarse throat sounds. When he is seen, he will find that his breathing sounds are clear and his heart rate is normal.

2. Difficulty breathing when at rest.

When the condition is serious, the child will have difficulty breathing and hoarse throat sounds when at rest. During treatment, laryngeal conduction sounds or abnormal bronchial breath sounds can be heard. The heart rate is relatively fast during auscultation, reaching 120 to 140 beats per minute.

3. Becoming irritable and restless.

In addition to the above symptoms, children may also experience paroxysmal irritability and bluish and pale areas around the mouth. During auscultation, alveolar breath sounds may weaken or disappear. Heart sounds may be dull, with a heart rate of 140 to 160 beats per minute.

4. Semi-coma, coma.

After a series of symptoms of irritability, children will turn into a semi-comatose or comatose state. This is manifested by temporary quietness and a gray complexion. During auscultation, alveolar breath sounds are almost gone, with only abnormal bronchial breath sounds. Heart sounds are relatively weak, and the heart rate may be irregular, fast or slow.

Acute laryngitis in children is very harmful. If parents find that their children have barking-like or hollow coughs, they should take their children to the hospital for treatment in time. Do not relax your vigilance just because your child does not have a high fever or because transportation is inconvenient at night, which may lead to more serious conditions. Do not take cough suppressants at will, so as to avoid difficulty in expectoration and airway obstruction. Before going to the hospital, avoid crying and make the child feel calm as much as possible to avoid hypoxia or labored breathing.
