Nursing methods for hand, foot and mouth disease

Nowadays, many children have hand, foot and mouth disease. At this time, we parents need to pay attention. This disease not only requires good treatment, but also long-term care. So what are the care methods for hand, foot and mouth disease? Let’s follow our experts to take a look.

1. If your baby is sick, he/she should stay at home until the fever subsides, the rash subsides and the blisters scab over. Generally, he/she needs to be isolated for 2 weeks.

2. Toys, tableware or other items used by the sick child should be thoroughly disinfected. Generally, they are disinfected by soaking or boiling with chlorine-containing disinfectants. Items that are not suitable for steaming or soaking can be exposed to the sun. The feces of the sick child must be disinfected with chlorine-containing disinfectants for 2 hours before being dumped.

3. The air in the child’s room should be fresh and the temperature should be appropriate. Windows should be opened regularly for ventilation and the air should be disinfected daily.

4. The child should rest in bed for one week and drink plenty of warm water. The diet should be light, delicious and easy to digest. If there is oral erosion, some liquid food can be eaten. Avoid eating cold, spicy, sour, salty and other irritating foods.

5. Keep the oral cavity clean to prevent secondary bacterial infection, and rinse the mouth with warm water after each meal. If there is oral erosion, apply chlortetracycline or cod liver oil to relieve pain and promote early healing of erosion.

6. The child's clothes and bedding should be clean, loose and soft. The bed should be flat and dry. Cut the child's nails short and wrap the child's hands if necessary to prevent scratching the rash.

7. For babies with rashes on their buttocks, their urine and feces should be cleaned up at all times and their buttocks should be kept clean and dry.

8. If the herpes has ruptured, apply 1% gentian violet or antibiotic ointment locally.

9. Hand, foot and mouth disease is generally a low or moderate fever, no special treatment is required, and the child can drink more water. If the body temperature exceeds 38.5℃, antipyretics can be taken under the guidance of a doctor.

I hope that after listening to the above introduction, everyone can understand how to do a good job in the care of hand, foot and mouth disease. In addition, it is also recommended that parents can give their children more massages in daily life. Through massage, the child’s skin blood circulation can be regulated, which will also help the hand, foot and mouth disease to heal in time.
