What discomfort does jaundice cause?

1. Jaundice may cause yellow skin, mucous membranes, sclera, drowsiness, vomiting and other symptoms in infants, which may make them uncomfortable.

2. The cause of infant jaundice may be that the production of bilirubin is greater than the excretion at birth. Because the baby's intestinal motility is poor, the intestinal flora has not yet been fully established, and the activity of intestinal related enzymes is relatively high, bilirubin can be converted, causing intestinal reabsorption, leading to increased blood bilirubin levels, thereby causing symptoms such as yellowing of the skin, mucous membranes, and sclera. It may also suffer from diseases such as neonatal hemolytic disease, polycythemia, and neonatal sepsis. Excessive bilirubin production can cause symptoms such as drowsiness and vomiting in severe cases. After the disease, if the symptoms are mild, you can strengthen feeding, eat more and excrete more, and observe closely to resolve on its own. If the symptoms are severe, blue light therapy, exchange transfusion therapy and other methods can be used for treatment, which can achieve better therapeutic effects.

3. In addition to the above symptoms, there may also be discomfort symptoms such as bile excretion disorder, obstruction, convulsions, abnormal breathing, etc. Parents can arrange for their babies to swim, which can promote blood circulation, lower bilirubin levels, and general symptoms can be relieved. If the symptoms are significantly aggravated or new symptoms occur, timely treatment should be sought.
