What is diarrhea in children?

Diarrhea in children is a very common disease. In recent years, the incidence of diarrhea in children has become more and more frequent. Diarrhea in children will have a bad impact on the physical health of young children. I believe that many parents are familiar with diarrhea in children. The following is a detailed introduction to what diarrhea in children is like.

Autumn diarrhea refers to diarrhea that occurs in October and November each year. The most common onset is in babies aged 6 months to 3 years old. Autumn diarrhea is mainly caused by rotavirus infection. Children are very susceptible to this virus because of their weak gastrointestinal function and poor gastrointestinal resistance. There are three clinical characteristics, namely "cold", vomiting, and diarrhea. Children often have an acute onset, and begin to show "cold" symptoms such as fever, body temperature between 38 and 39.5℃, cough, and runny nose, accompanied by frequent vomiting, vomiting stomach contents and milk; then diarrhea begins within 24 hours, ranging from several times a day to dozens of times, with thin stools, water-like or egg drop soup-like, sometimes white rice soup-like, and mostly without a special fishy smell.

Diarrhea is an intestinal disease mainly caused by rotavirus infection and characterized by diarrhea. It has a high incidence rate and is one of the important causes of malnutrition, growth and development disorders, and even death in children.

Doctors from the Children's Hospital's health care department told reporters that due to frequent diarrhea and vomiting, and poor appetite, children are prone to varying degrees of dehydration. In severe cases, electrolyte imbalance may occur, and even worse, encephalitis, intestinal bleeding, intussusception or myocarditis may be life-threatening. Therefore, experts remind parents to pay enough attention to this disease and take early precautions.

Autumn is the season when children have the most diarrhea, so it should attract the attention of many parents. With the development of society, the mortality rate of pediatric diarrhea has decreased, but pediatric diarrhea still cannot be ignored. Parents must pay attention to some small details in daily life and develop good living habits and eating habits, especially in autumn when the incidence rate is high.
