How to treat jaundice in children?

The treatment of jaundice in children should be determined according to individual circumstances. If it is physiological jaundice, generally no special treatment is required. Pathological jaundice is common in breast milk jaundice and infectious jaundice, which can be treated with blue light and oral medication.

1. Physiological jaundice

It is common in newborns. Due to the incomplete development of body functions, immature liver and gallbladder functions, and poor bilirubin excretion ability, it is easy to cause bile stasis and form physiological jaundice. Physiological jaundice is usually not accompanied by other abnormal manifestations, such as depression, loss of appetite, etc. This condition usually subsides over time and usually does not require special treatment.

2. Pathological jaundice

1. Breast milk jaundice: It often occurs in newborns who are exclusively breastfed or mainly breastfed. Mild breast milk jaundice usually does not require special treatment. If the symptoms are severe, blue light treatment can be used.

2. Infectious jaundice: jaundice caused by liver cell function damage caused by viral infection or bacterial infection. For infectious jaundice, drugs such as ganciclovir, acyclovir, and Yinzhihuang granules can be used for treatment under the guidance of a doctor.

In addition to the commonly used treatment methods mentioned above, treatment can also be carried out through intravenous drip, blood exchange, etc. when necessary, and care should be strengthened during treatment.
