What should I do if my child has diarrhea?

Diarrhea in children is caused by a variety of pathogens and symptoms. As the frequency of stool increases, changes in characteristics may also be accompanied by fever, vomiting, and varying degrees of dehydration.

1. Intestinal infectious diarrhea: generally caused by viruses, bacteria, fungi, and parasites. Bacteria and viruses are the most common, and rotavirus infection is the most common in autumn and winter. Diarrhea occurs after fever and vomiting, and the number of diarrhea episodes can reach more than ten times a day.

2. Non-infectious diarrhea: For example, indigestion and flora disturbance caused by drugs for treating other diseases may cause diarrhea in children. There are also allergic diarrhea, such as diarrhea caused by allergic reaction to milk or soy products, including primary and secondary lactose intolerance, sudden climate change, abdominal cold or overheated weather, reduced secretion of digestive juice, or diarrhea caused by digestive dysfunction caused by thirst and excessive milk.

Treatment principles:

1. Eat a reasonable diet, maintain nutrition, quickly correct electrolyte imbalance, control on-site infection, and then give appropriate medications to regulate flora disorders and antidiarrheal drugs.

2. To prevent dehydration, when children have diarrhea, give them appropriate rehydration salt solution, 20-30 ml per kilogram of body weight, to be drunk within 4 hours. If there are severe symptoms of dehydration, infusion treatment should be given.

3. If the patient has diarrhea for more than half a month, considering lactose intolerance, anti-diarrhea milk powder can be given for treatment.
