How to treat neonatal jaundice

How to treat neonatal jaundice?

When neonatal jaundice is mild, general treatment such as drinking more water and excreting more can be adopted; probiotics, Yinzhihuang and other drugs can also be used for treatment; when the condition is serious, intravenous albumin injection and blue light therapy can be used; treatment is also needed according to the cause.

1. General treatment of neonatal jaundice

If a newborn has physiological jaundice, but the whites of the eyes and facial skin are slightly yellow, generally no special treatment is required. Just let the child drink more water and excrete more, which can make the jaundice disappear as soon as possible.

2. Drug treatment of neonatal jaundice

1. Probiotics

Since probiotics can regulate intestinal flora and reduce bilirubin in the enterohepatic circulation, appropriate supplementation of probiotics can make jaundice disappear as soon as possible.

2. Yinzhihuang

This is a commonly used anti-jaundice drug in clinical practice. If the physiological jaundice of the newborn is severe or the pathological jaundice is mild, Yinzhihuang can be taken appropriately, and the jaundice can subside as soon as possible.

3. Albumin therapy for neonatal jaundice

Albumin can bind to bilirubin, so when children have severe jaundice, intravenous albumin can make the jaundice disappear as soon as possible. Because albumin can also improve the body's immunity, appropriate injection of albumin is also beneficial to reduce the risk of complications such as bilirubin encephalopathy and jaundice.

4. Blue light irradiation treatment for neonatal jaundice

This is a common method for treating pathological jaundice. Exposing children to blue light can reduce bilirubin in the blood and make jaundice disappear as soon as possible.

5. Treatment of the causes of neonatal jaundice

Neonatal pathological jaundice is caused by a variety of reasons and needs to be treated according to the cause. For example, hepatocellular jaundice caused by hepatitis B virus infection requires antiviral treatment with drugs such as interferon; if the jaundice is caused by biliary atresia, surgical treatment can be chosen; if the jaundice is caused by hemolysis, immunoglobulin can be used to block hemolysis, and blood transfusion is required in severe cases.
