Significant harm of pneumonia in children

Significant harm of pneumonia in children

For newborn babies, the incidence of pneumonia is very high. When a child suffers from this disease, in addition to fever, he or she will also have coughing, choking on milk, etc., which is very harmful to the child. Therefore, as a parent, you must be careful to avoid worsening of the disease and having a bad impact on the baby's health.

1. Heart damage.

Common symptoms include toxic myocarditis and heart failure. The symptoms of heart failure in infants and young children are not as typical as those in adults, and the hypoxia of pneumonia itself can accelerate the heart rate and breathing, which is easy to misdiagnose. Heart failure can easily cause death in infants and young children. Therefore, if the child shows a sudden increase in breathing difficulties, irritability, pale or severe cyanosis, and the child's heart rate is above 160-180 beats/minute, and it cannot be explained by increased body temperature and breathing difficulties, the possibility of heart failure should be considered.

2. Brain damage.

Children with mild hypoxia may show irritability or lethargy, while severe hypoxia may lead to cerebral edema and toxic encephalopathy, with eyes staring or rolling up, confusion, even convulsions, coma, irregular breathing, etc., and eventually death from respiratory failure.

3. Gastrointestinal damage.

Children with mild symptoms may experience loss of appetite, vomiting, and diarrhea. Children with severe symptoms may vomit coffee-like substances or even bloody stools (caused by gastrointestinal mucosal bleeding). When poisoning paralysis occurs, there is obvious abdominal distension, which causes the diaphragm to rise and compress the lungs, causing difficulty breathing and making hypoxia more severe, creating a vicious cycle.

After reading the above introduction, you should now be clear about the dangers that may occur when a child suffers from pneumonia. Finally, the editor would like to remind everyone that parents should pay attention to strengthening their children's nutrition and seek medical attention as soon as possible if they find that the symptoms are getting worse, so as to prevent the occurrence of various complications.
