Can pneumonia in children be cured?

Pneumonia is a common clinical disease in children. It is easy to occur in all seasons, but more often in winter and spring. TCM syndrome differentiation can be divided into the following types of treatment:

1. Heat inside and cold outside

Symptoms include nasal congestion, runny nose, aversion to cold without sweating, severe cough and asthma, white tongue coating, and floating and rapid pulse. This is due to the suppression of lung qi and its inability to descend.

The treatment is suitable for clearing away heat and dispersing cold, promoting lung function and relieving asthma.

Ma Xing Gan Shi Tang with added ingredients: 3g of ephedra, 6g of apricot kernel, 9g of raw gypsum, 3g of licorice, 9g of raw mulberry bark, 9g of roasted loquat leaf, 3g of peucedanum, decocted in water and taken orally. If the patient has acute asthma, add 6g of earthworm and 6g of scutellaria baicalensis.

2. Warm pathogens attack the lungs

Symptoms include high fever, coma, dry nose without mucus, frequent cough with little sputum, thin yellow tongue coating, and rapid pulse.

The treatment is suitable for clearing away heat, detoxifying, promoting lung function and relieving cough.

Yinqiao Powder with added ingredients: 12g of honeysuckle, 18g of dandelion, 12g of isatis leaf, 9g of reed root, 9g of bamboo leaf, 9g of burdock seed, 6g of almond, 9g of houttuynia cordata, 3g of licorice, 0.5g of antelope powder (taken with water). For severe cough, add 6g of platycodon and 9g of roasted loquat leaf; for severe thirst, add 9g of pollen and 9g of Radix Rehmanniae.

3. Dryness harms the lungs

Symptoms include dry lips, tongue, and nose, dry cough with little sputum, sticky sputum that is difficult to cough up, dry and sore throat, thirst, red tongue, and rapid pulse.

The treatment is suitable for nourishing yin, clearing dryness, moistening the lungs and relieving cough.

Sangxing decoction with additions and subtractions: 6g of Adenophora, 6g of Apricot, 6g of Fritillaria, 6g of Platycodon, 9g of Dendrobium, 3g of Licorice, 9g of Sterculia, 6g of Pollen, and pear peel as an introduction. If the dryness is severe, add 9g of Qingguo and 9g of Radix Ophiopogonis.

4. Damp-heat in the lungs

Symptoms include chest fullness and phlegm obstruction, flaring nostrils, heavy and turbid phlegm in the throat, thick and greasy tongue coating, and slippery and rapid pulse.

The treatment is suitable for clearing the lungs, relieving depression, removing phlegm and removing turbidity.

Qianjin Weijing Decoction combined with Beimu Gualou Powder with additions and subtractions: 9g of Weigen, 9g of Wax Gourd Seed, 9g of Raw Coix Seed, 9g of Raw Mulberry Bark, 6g of Gualou, 6g of Apricot Kernel, 9g of Fritillaria Thunbergii, 9g of Radish Seed, 3g of Tianzhuhuang. For those who have difficulty in spitting out phlegm, add 3g of Pinellia and 6g of Bamboo Shavings.

In addition to paying attention to the weather changes and adding or removing clothes at any time, do not smoke in the child's bedroom, do not place or avoid contact with harmful objects such as fumes, paint, gas, dichlorvos, and bird cages, etc. During the illness, eat less sweet, salty, spicy, greasy and other heavy foods. The indoor temperature should not be too high or too dry; open doors and windows frequently to keep the air fresh.
