Acute laryngitis in children is mostly caused by viruses and can be a complication of acute infectious diseases. On the basis of viral infection, secondary bacterial infection occurs, also known as acute subglottic laryngitis. It is common in infants and young children aged 6 months to 3 years old, more common in boys than girls, and is prone to occur in winter and spring. Children's coughing function is not strong, and it is not easy to expel throat and lower respiratory tract secretions, which makes breathing more difficult. Therefore, the condition of acute laryngitis in children is often more serious than that of adults. If it is not diagnosed and treated in time, it can be life-threatening. Next, let's take a look at whether acute laryngitis in children can be cured? The best treatment is to use a combination of Chinese and Western medicine. Like the common cold, acute laryngitis in children is also an inflammation caused by viruses or bacteria. It often occurs in the cold and dry winter season. At this time, the throat is relatively dry, the blood vessels are fragile, and the local resistance is low. 1. Western medicine treatment: Give adequate antibiotics (penicillin, cefotaxime) throughout the body. For those with mild dyspnea, hormone preparations should be added: prednisone 1-2 mg/kg/day, taken orally. If the condition worsens, intravenous infusion of dexamethasone 0.2 mg/kg/day; hydrocortisone 4-8 mg/kg/day, and oxygen inhalation and appropriate sedatives should be given at the same time. If hormone infusion is ineffective for 1-2 hours, tracheotomy should be considered. Morphine and atropine are prohibited to avoid inhibiting breathing and drying the respiratory mucosa. 2. Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatment (1) Wind-cold attacks the throat: dry cough, like a barking dog, mild hoarseness, no fever or low fever, pale red tongue, thin white fur, floating and tight pulse, red fingerprints at the wind gate.
