What are the signs of neonatal pathological jaundice?

In fact, with the rapid development of medical knowledge, the concepts of physiological jaundice and pathological jaundice in newborns are rarely mentioned. We should pay more attention to the relationship between the baby's age and jaundice after birth, and we need to pay attention to the bilirubin in the first hour.

Of course, if jaundice appears within 24 hours after birth, or if jaundice persists for more than two weeks in a full-term baby or more than four weeks in a premature baby, or if the jaundice value rises by more than 5 mg/dl per day, or if jaundice has subsided but reappears, these may be signs of pathological jaundice.

Especially when the baby is born with a relatively small gestational age and light weight, the mother has type O blood or panda blood, or the mother has a history of high-risk diseases such as hypothyroidism, this pathological jaundice is more likely to occur. Therefore, jaundice must be monitored within 24 hours after birth. That is, the jaundice value must be monitored through a transcutaneous machine to dynamically observe its changes. It cannot be observed with the naked eye alone. Timely intervention must be made to strengthen breastfeeding.
