What to do if children are malnourished

If a child's daily diet is improper, it is easy for him to develop symptoms of malnutrition, which will cause great harm to his physical health. Therefore, when parents find that their children are malnourished, they should supplement their children's nutrition in time, or take their children to the pediatric department of the hospital for examination and treatment.

For all parents, children are the most important. Once there is any problem with the child's health, parents will be anxious. Malnutrition is a common problem for children. So, when a child is malnourished, which department should he go to in the hospital? Of course, it is pediatrics.

Symptoms of malnutrition:
1. Constipation and bad breath
If the child likes to eat meat, fried or sweet food, and has no interest in fresh fruits and vegetables, the child may not take in enough dietary fiber over time, which will slow down the intestinal peristalsis and cause constipation. When the feces stay in the intestine for too long, harmful toxins will be produced, which will manifest as constipation and bad breath. If parents find that the baby has such a situation, they should adjust the baby's diet structure and let the baby change the habit of picky eating.
2. Slow reaction and dull brain
Children's intelligence grows the fastest, but the most worrying sign of malnutrition is that the baby is slow to react and has a dull brain. Here, the baby should pay attention to the diet and sleep, and make corresponding adjustments. Malnutrition may lead to a decrease in the rate of brain cell division, which will in turn affect the child's language thinking ability. In terms of sleep, ensure that the child sleeps no less than nine hours a day.
3. Losing temper and mood swings
Children are prone to losing temper and mood swings, which is a feature that many parents tend to overlook. Because adults think it is normal for children to lose temper. In fact, if a child suddenly loses temper and changes erratically, then he must be feeling unwell. It may also be due to a lack of B vitamins. Because B vitamins can indirectly affect people's emotions by regulating the human nervous system. If the body lacks B vitamins, it is easy to make people become moody and irritable.
4. Reduced immunity and frequent illness
Children are prone to illness. In addition to a few congenital factors, the main reason is acquired factors. If the baby is picky about food, it may lead to a lack of certain trace elements in the body, which can easily reduce the baby's resistance and cause colds, fevers or gingivitis. If the child's protein intake is too low, it is also easy to cause colds and gingivitis. Therefore, parents should make corresponding adjustments in diet, so as not to let the child become weak and sickly, which will affect the child's normal development!
When parents notice signs of nutritional imbalance in their children, it is best to improve the situation through dietary adjustments first, and then consult a doctor for medication if necessary.
