How to treat hand, foot and mouth disease in one-year-old babies

If a one-year-old baby is found to have hand, foot and mouth disease, parents are advised to take the child to see a doctor as soon as possible to avoid serious complications.

Hand, foot and mouth disease is a common infectious disease caused by enterovirus, which is more common in children under 5 years old, especially one-year-old babies whose immune systems are not fully developed. Its typical symptoms include oral ulcers, maculopapular rashes or herpes on the hands and feet, and fever. The virus is mainly transmitted through droplets, contact with patient secretions or contaminated objects, and is easily transmitted in family or collective environments.

Symptomatic treatment is the main measure, such as using antipyretics to relieve fever, but you need to follow the doctor's advice; keep the baby's mouth clean and hygienic to prevent secondary infection caused by oral ulcers; replenish enough water to help maintain water and electrolyte balance. Try to choose light and easily digestible food, and avoid sour, spicy or rough food that irritates oral ulcers.

Special attention should be paid to prevent babies from scratching the rash to prevent infection after the herpes breaks; the living environment and contact items should be disinfected in time; if there is a persistent high fever, frequent vomiting, drowsiness, etc., a doctor should be contacted immediately. Developing good hygiene habits, such as washing hands frequently, is the key to preventing hand, foot and mouth disease.
