Polio prevention and treatment methods

Polio prevention and treatment methods

Polio is one of the diseases that seriously affects children's physical development, causing physical and psychological pain to children. They cannot walk, work, fall in love, or have children like normal people. Therefore, the harm of polio is very great, and we must actively prevent it in our lives. So what are the preventive treatments for polio? If a patient is sick, how can we prevent the patient? The following is a detailed introduction for you, hoping to help you.

1. Prevention methods

1. Take polio vaccine. my country now uses a mixed sugar pill vaccine of type I, II, and III (made from attenuated polio virus). It is taken from 2 months after birth, and taken 3 times in a row, with an interval of no less than 28 days between each dose. It should be taken within 1 year old, and once more at 4 years old. (So far, children in my country have taken "sugar pill" vaccines, while the internationally accepted dosage form is liquid vaccine).

2. For patients who have become ill, they should be isolated for no less than 40 days from the date of onset. At the same time, the patient's excrement, secretions and contaminated utensils should be disinfected in a timely manner.

2. Treatment of polio

Two years after the onset of the disease, sequelae are left. The disease no longer progresses, but it is not easy to get better. The child maintains a relatively stable disability state and the disease will not relapse. However, relevant research results show that some people who have suffered from polio and are now "cured" can still relapse after 30 to 40 years of illness, and new symptoms similar to polio appear, which is called post-polio syndrome. The main manifestations are: extreme fatigue, gradually worsening limb weakness, muscle and joint pain, limb paralysis and muscle atrophy. If the above symptoms occur, you should go to the hospital immediately for treatment. Don't take it lightly, so as not to delay the treatment.

The above is the polio prevention and treatment method. Do you understand it clearly? Vaccination within the validity period can effectively prevent the disease, which also reduces the incidence of the disease. Therefore, parents in rural or remote villages should be reminded not to forget the time for their children to get vaccinated.
