How to check for eczema in children

Childhood eczema is a common children's disease in daily life, so parents need to pay special attention. Eczema usually appears on the baby's forehead, cheeks or scalp. So what should parents do if their children are infected with childhood eczema? Below we will introduce to you the examination methods for childhood eczema.

1. Causes

The causes of infant eczema and ringworm are different. The causes of eczema are more complicated and we can call it allergy, while ringworm is caused by fungal infection of the skin, and there are many factors for fungal infection. The most direct clinical identification method is to perform fungal testing on the baby's skin, which is scientific and authoritative. This is also the most recommended method to distinguish eczema and ringworm;

2. Symptoms

The symptoms of infantile eczema and ringworm are different. Although to a large extent, ringworm and eczema both manifest as itching, redness, swelling and even erythema, eczema has a tendency to seep water, and in severe cases, the skin breaks and becomes inflamed, covering a larger area. Ringworm is dry, and in most cases, ringworm is in the form of a ring, but eczema can sometimes be circular. As long as it has a tendency to seep water and there is no dike on the edge, it can be identified as eczema;

3. Incidence

The incidence of infant eczema is much higher than that of ringworm, so in general, when a baby has a rash or discomfort, it can be considered to be eczema caused by skin allergies, not ringworm. This is also something that young mothers need to pay attention to.

Although there are many factors that cause eczema, they can be summarized into three reasons: physical heredity, indigestion, and improper care.

When we talk about physical inheritance, we are referring to family inheritance. If parents have skin allergies, children will generally have allergies as well. Because the digestive system of infants is not yet mature and the digestive function has not yet reached the level of adults, some allergic allergens in food penetrate into the blood when passing through the fragile intestinal wall of infants, thus causing eczema. As people's living standards improve, more and more adults will prepare various diapers for their children. Diapers have a great gap in breathability and comfort compared to diapers and even open-crotch pants used by the older generation, which increases the risk of eczema. These are the key factors that cause eczema. When choosing diapers for children, pure cotton clothes are actually the most suitable.
