Febrile seizures are the most common cause of convulsions in children. Here we mainly introduce the prevention of recurrence of febrile seizures. It mainly includes two aspects. The first is that children with febrile seizures should pay attention to physical exercise, improve their health level, prevent diseases such as upper respiratory tract infections, clear chronic infection lesions, and try to reduce or avoid acute febrile diseases in infancy, which is of great significance to reducing the recurrence rate of febrile seizures. The second is to take anticonvulsants intermittently or for a long time to prevent the recurrence of febrile seizures.

Diet and emotions: During a seizure, children should not be fed water or food to avoid suffocation and aspiration pneumonia. After the seizure is relieved, they can be given sugar water or nutritious, easily digestible liquid or semi-liquid substances, such as eggs, milk, lotus root powder, noodles, etc. Children with seizures should not consume stimulants such as wine, vinegar, tea, coffee, chocolate and cola; avoid indirect smoking as much as possible, and pay attention to avoid excessive fatigue or excessive excitement to avoid inducing seizures.

There is no definitive answer on whether children can be vaccinated. In fact, the vaccine instructions clearly stipulate that only three vaccines, namely meningococcal meningitis, Japanese encephalitis and diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis vaccines, are contraindicated for use in patients with epilepsy. As for febrile seizures, post-vaccination fever may occur after vaccination, which may lead to febrile seizures, but the incidence is low. Studies have found that measles vaccination may induce febrile seizures 3 to 7 days after vaccination.
