Is acute laryngitis in children related to pregnancy?

Is acute laryngitis in children related to pregnancy? Pregnant women should not only take good care of their own bodies, but also take into account the health of the fetus in their abdomen. Acute laryngitis in children is a very harmful pediatric disease that is common in infants and young children. So, is acute laryngitis in children related to pregnancy?

First of all, I can tell you for sure that acute laryngitis in children is an acute inflammation of the laryngeal mucosa, mainly in the glottis area. It often starts suddenly and progresses rapidly, with symptoms such as hoarseness, laryngeal tinnitus, barking cough, inspiratory dyspnea, etc. In the early stage, it is mainly characterized by laryngeal spasm, and hoarseness is usually not serious. It manifests as paroxysmal barking cough or dyspnea, and in severe cases, cyanosis of the face, etc. However, this disease has nothing to do with pregnancy.

Experts point out that children are prone to acute laryngitis, which is often related to colds. Usually, there is a virus invasion first, followed by bacterial infection. It is often secondary to rhinitis, pharyngitis, and upper respiratory tract infection. It can be a precursor disease for acute infectious diseases such as influenza, pneumonia, measles, chickenpox, whooping cough, and scarlet fever.

Acute laryngitis in children is the abbreviation of acute laryngitis, trachea and bronchitis. It is called "lock throat wind, acute throat syndrome" in traditional Chinese medicine. It is a common acute and severe disease in infants and young children during sudden changes in temperature or cold seasons. It is mainly characterized by hoarseness, cough like dog barking, accompanied by varying degrees of inspiratory wheezing, and worsening at night. It is prone to complications of laryngeal obstruction, pneumonia, and heart failure, and severe cases can be life-threatening.

Acute laryngitis in children is common in infants and young children aged 6 months to 3 years. Due to the anatomical characteristics of the larynx in children, the laryngeal cavity is narrow, the laryngeal cartilage is soft, the submucosal tissue of the epiglottic cartilage, arytenoid cartilage, aryepiglottic folds, ventricular bands and subglottic area is loose, and the mucosal lymphatic vessels are rich. After inflammation, it is easy to swell and cause laryngeal obstruction. Children do not have a strong cough function, and it is not easy to expel the secretions of the larynx and lower respiratory tract, which makes breathing more severe. Therefore, the condition of acute laryngitis in children is often more serious than that of adults. If it is not diagnosed and treated in time, the harm is immeasurable.
