What are the drugs for treating seizures?

What are the drugs for treating convulsions? The occurrence of convulsions not only threatens the health of children, but is also a physical and mental torture for parents. Children with convulsions often have impaired consciousness during attacks, and severe cases may even leave sequelae. Clinically, the treatment of this disease is mainly based on drugs. So, what are the drugs for treating convulsions?

Diazepam is often the first choice for children to prevent convulsions. However, it should be noted that this drug has an inhibitory effect on breathing and heartbeat. Chloral hydrate is prepared into a 10% solution and retained for enema. Phenobarbital sodium is injected intramuscularly; chlorpromazine is injected intramuscularly. Amobarbital sodium (amytal sodium) is diluted with 10% glucose into a 1% solution and injected intravenously. Stop the injection when the convulsion stops.

Chinese medicine can be used, such as antelope horn, gypsum, Uncaria rhynchophylla, chrysanthemum, raw earth, mulberry leaf, cold water stone, scutellaria baicalensis, and curcuma. You can also use Chinese patent medicines such as Niuhuang Zhenjing Pills, Jiujisan, and Xiaoer Niuhuangsan. You can also take buffalo horn powder. After the child's convulsions are relieved, the fever gradually subsides, and the condition stabilizes, Chinese medicine should conduct syndrome differentiation and treatment based on the child's disease and the main clinical symptoms.

Febrile convulsions are common in children aged 6 months to 4 years. Convulsions usually occur in the early stages of fever and are short-lived. It is rare for them to occur multiple times in a single febrile illness. They often occur within 12 hours of fever. Consciousness recovers quickly after the attack, and there are no positive neurological signs. For this type of treatment, it is necessary to first cool down or give antipyretic drugs. For patients with concurrent infections, antibiotics should be used.

Once a child has a convulsion, you should stay calm, let the child sleep on the left or right side, untie the child's clothes, press the tongue with chopsticks to prevent the tongue from being bitten by the baby, and do not shout to prevent the child from being stimulated again. If it is caused by fever, you can first reduce the temperature and take the medicine given by the doctor to relieve it. If there is no improvement, take the child to the doctor immediately.
