How to treat a child's persistent cough?

It is a common phenomenon that children have a persistent cough. At this time, general treatment can be given, including back patting and steam inhalation expectorant treatment. Drug treatment can also be given, such as taking children's cough syrup, snake gall and Fritillaria liquid, and children's expectorant and cough granules.

In fact, cough is a common disease in children, especially in autumn and winter, when the temperature changes greatly between morning and evening and the climate is very dry, which is the peak period for children to cough. Some children may have weak body resistance, so once they have a cough, it always persists and does not go away completely. So what should we do if the child's cough does not go away?

1. General treatment for children’s cough

1. Pat on the back

You can let the child lie on the adult's lap with an arched back, and then gently pat the baby's back from the outside to the inside and from the bottom to the top with your palms in a hollow state. Pat 2 to 3 times a day, each time for at least three minutes, which can loosen the phlegm in the baby's bronchial tubes and lungs, prompting it to be discharged as soon as possible, thereby relieving the symptoms of coughing.

2. Inhale steam to reduce phlegm

If your baby has a severe cough and has a lot of phlegm, you can let him inhale steam. The easiest way is to put hot water in the bathroom, wait until the bathroom is full of steam, and let the child stay in it for a few minutes.

Through this operation, the phlegm in the throat can be slowly diluted, and the congestion and edema of the child's trachea and bronchial mucosa can be relieved, and the cough can also be reduced.

2. Drug treatment for children’s persistent cough

1. Children's cough syrup

If a child has symptoms of coughing, you can consider taking children's cough syrup. This medicine can relieve cough and reduce phlegm, quickly clearing phlegm in the throat, thereby reducing irritation to the mucous membrane and achieving a cough-relieving effect.

2. Snake Gallbladder and Fritillaria Liquid

This medicine is quite common and can relieve cough and expectorate, and can also achieve the therapeutic effect of expelling wind. It has a good effect in treating wind-heat cough in children. If it is determined that the child is suffering from wind-heat cold and cough, the medicine can be taken appropriately.

3. Children's phlegm-resolving and cough-relieving granules

If a child is coughing because of bronchitis and also has phlegm, he or she can be treated with pediatric phlegm-resolving and cough-relieving granules.

This medicine has a good effect of clearing heat and resolving phlegm, and can effectively relieve the cough symptoms caused by bronchitis. However, if the child is coughing with fever and yellow phlegm, it is recommended to see a doctor as soon as possible and do not give the child cough and asthma medicine casually.
