What should I do if my child has mumps? How should I treat my child if he has mumps?

Once mumps is found, children should be isolated and rest in bed immediately. The diet should be soft and easy to digest, and avoid spicy and sour foods. Because these foods can easily stimulate the secretion of salivary glands, causing local pain to worsen. Drink more boiling water, keep the mouth clean, or rinse your mouth with compound borax solution. The swollen part can be applied with Chinese medicine, take 15 grams of Qingdai, or 15 grams of Chinese patent medicine Ruyi Jinhuangsan, and mix evenly with water. After external application, it can relieve local pain and help reduce swelling. At the same time, you can also take Isatis Root Granules.

Once a child has mumps, he or she should be isolated until the swelling of the parotid glands completely subsides to avoid infecting other children. Since mumps can easily spread in kindergartens, if a child is found, morning inspections should be strengthened. Children who have contact with suspected children should be observed for 21 days and take oral isatis root granules for prevention. Usually for 3-5 consecutive days. It should be noted that immunoglobulin has no preventive effect on mumps.

Mumps is divided into purulent and viral.

Purulent parotitis is caused by bacterial infection, mainly staphylococci. Common causes include 1. decreased secretory function of the parotid gland, which is more common in acute infectious diseases and weak patients; 2. blockage of the parotid duct; 3. inflammation of the tissues near the parotid gland.

Symptoms include fever, leukocytosis, local redness, swelling, pain, and fever of the parotid gland. When the lesion enters the suppurative stage, pus flows out of the catheter orifice.

Viral mumps is often called epidemic parotitis, usually occurs in children or adolescents with a history of contact with infection, and can be bilateral or unilateral. White blood cells not only do not increase, but also decrease or normal. Local symptoms are similar to those of purulent ones, but there is no tendency to purulent.

Treatment: In the early stage of acute suppurative mumps, medication is the main treatment, antibiotics, Chinese medicine Jingfangdu powder, Wuwei disinfection beverage; at the same time, stimulate secretion and keep saliva secretion unobstructed. If the course of the disease exceeds one week and enters the suppurative stage, the pus should be drained by incision.

There is no specific treatment for viral mumps, but it can be treated with the above-mentioned Chinese medicine. If there is a concurrent bacterial infection, it can be treated with antibiotics.
