How to check for allergic rhinitis when your baby coughs

The baby's cough can be diagnosed with allergic rhinitis through clinical symptoms, physical examination, allergen detection, nasal endoscopy, etc. It is recommended that patients receive targeted treatment under the guidance of a doctor after a clear diagnosis.

1. Clinical symptoms: If the baby suffers from allergic rhinitis, he may have symptoms such as paroxysmal sneezing, runny nose, itchy nose, nasal congestion, etc. Some babies may also have itchy eyes, tears, itchy eyes, itchy ears, etc. If the baby suffers from cough, he may have paroxysmal, irritating dry cough, itchy throat or foreign body sensation in the throat, etc.

2. Physical examination: The doctor can observe that the baby's nasal mucosa is pale and edematous, with a lot of watery secretions. In addition, the doctor can determine whether the baby has nasal symptoms such as hypertrophy of the nasal concha and swelling of the nasal mucosa through palpation;

3. Allergen testing: When babies with allergic rhinitis are tested for allergens, serum IgE antibodies are often found to be positive. If the serum IgE antibody is positive, it means that the baby has an allergic constitution and should avoid contact with allergens in life;

4. Nasal endoscopy: If allergic rhinitis is suspected, a definitive diagnosis can be made through nasal endoscopy, which can observe whether there is mucosal edema, congestion, hypertrophy of nasal conchae in the nasal cavity, and whether there is clear or viscous secretions in the nasal passages.

If allergic rhinitis is diagnosed, you should avoid contact with allergens, such as pollen, dust mites, and animal fur. When the weather changes significantly, you should make sure your baby wears a mask to reduce the irritation of the nasal mucosa by cold air. You can also give your baby oral antihistamines, such as loratadine syrup, as prescribed by your doctor.
