Causes and treatment of pseudohypertrophic muscular dystrophy

Duchenne muscular dystrophy is caused by a gene defect that affects protein function. Duchenne muscular dystrophy is an X-linked recessive genetic disease caused by a mutation in the dystrophin gene (DMD gene). Patients are often characterized by progressive muscle atrophy and weakness accompanied by pseudohypertrophy of the gastrocnemius muscles, and walk with a duck-like gait. The DMD gene is one of the largest genes in the human body, and the dystrophin it encodes is an important component for stabilizing muscle cell membranes. When the DMD gene mutates, it will lead to the absence or defect of dystrophin, making the muscle cell membrane unstable and prone to necrosis and autolysis. As the disease progresses, the muscles are gradually replaced by connective tissue, eventually leading to muscle atrophy and loss of function. It is recommended to seek medical attention in a timely manner. Under the guidance of a doctor, you can take measures such as diet adjustment, exercise, physical therapy, drug therapy, and surgical treatment. The specific analysis is as follows:

1. Dietary adjustment: Eat more fresh fruits and vegetables, and eat more foods containing vitamin D and calcium, such as apples, oranges, spinach, rapeseed, broccoli, etc. You can also eat some dried shrimps, milk, etc.

2. Exercise: Do some exercise, such as jogging and yoga, to prevent progressive pseudohypertrophic muscular dystrophy. But avoid strenuous exercise to avoid aggravating the condition.

3. Physical therapy: You can use ultrashort wave therapy, infrared therapy, electrical stimulation therapy, paraffin therapy, etc. as prescribed by your doctor to improve the condition of progressive pseudohypertrophic muscular dystrophy.

4. Drug treatment: Prednisone tablets, vitamin E soft capsules, azathioprine tablets and other drugs can be used under the guidance of a doctor.

5. Surgical treatment: If scoliosis occurs during the progression of pseudohypertrophic muscular dystrophy, the patient can follow the doctor's advice to correct it through pedicle screw fixation, anterior and posterior release, vertebral fusion, etc.

In daily life, we need to maintain a positive and optimistic attitude and build confidence in overcoming the disease. At the same time, we should avoid the influence of negative emotions such as excessive anxiety and depression.
