Baby coughs and rough breathing due to allergic rhinitis

If your baby has coughing, heavy breathing, and allergic rhinitis, it may be due to allergies, upper respiratory tract infection, lower respiratory tract infection, or other conditions. It is recommended that parents should take their baby to the hospital as soon as possible, complete blood routine, chest CT and other related examinations, and clarify the specific cause of the disease.

1. Allergy: If the baby is exposed to allergens such as dust mites and pollen, it may irritate the throat, causing congestion and edema of the throat mucosa, resulting in irritating cough. At the same time, due to the stimulation of allergens, it will also cause congestion and edema of the nasal mucosa, causing nasal congestion, thus affecting normal breathing, causing breathing to become rough, and allergic rhinitis. You can choose to use Montelukast Sodium Tablets for treatment;

2. Upper respiratory tract infection: If the baby is infected by viruses, bacteria and other pathogenic microorganisms, it may induce upper respiratory tract infection, leading to hyperreactivity of the throat mucosa, and coughing after inflammatory stimulation. At the same time, due to the large amount of sputum in the respiratory tract, it may affect normal breathing and cause breathing to become rough. You can give guaiac methylphenidate granules for treatment under the guidance of a doctor;

3. Lower respiratory tract infection: If the baby is infected by viruses, bacteria and other pathogenic microorganisms, it may induce lower respiratory tract infection, such as bronchitis, pneumonia and other diseases. Inflammatory stimulation can cause coughing symptoms. At the same time, due to the large amount of sputum in the respiratory tract, it can cause poor nasal ventilation, resulting in rough breathing. Under the guidance of a doctor, you can give inhaled budesonide suspension and other drugs for treatment;

4. Other situations: If the baby has increased nasal secretions or foreign objects in the nasal cavity, it may irritate the nasal mucosa and induce coughing symptoms. At the same time, if the nasal secretions are excessive due to allergic rhinitis, it may cause nasal congestion symptoms. If the nasal secretions enter the throat, rough breathing may occur, and nasal irrigation is generally required to relieve the symptoms.

If your baby has coughing, heavy breathing, and allergic rhinitis, parents are advised to pay attention to proper feeding in daily life. If the indoor air is dry, you can use a humidifier to moisten the air. You should also pay attention to adding or removing clothes to prevent your baby from catching a cold.
