How to care for a one-year-old baby with a cold, cough and phlegm

Colds are mostly caused by inflammatory stimulation. Inflammatory stimulation will lead to increased secretions in the airways, snoring sounds, and stimulate children to cough. Oral cold granules and heat-clearing and cough-relieving drugs are needed. In addition, children should be given more water, the indoor humidity should be kept high, and the back should be patted frequently to promote the discharge of phlegm.

Cold and cough are very common diseases. When the symptoms are mild, they do not have much impact on the body. However, if not treated in time, it will aggravate the condition and cause serious consequences to the body. Therefore, when the symptoms appear, you must treat it quickly, especially for babies. You need to choose the appropriate treatment method. So what should you do if your one-year-old baby has a cold, cough and phlegm?

I often see many parents go to the pharmacy to buy some cough medicine for their babies when their babies cough. Parents should first understand that coughing is a self-protection reflex of the human body. Foreign matter, including sputum, in the respiratory tract will irritate the trachea and cause people to cough. Therefore, coughing is a self-protection way for the human body to eliminate foreign matter. Therefore, it is recommended that parents do not give their babies cough medicine casually.

A baby's cough with phlegm is usually caused by bacterial infection. Sometimes the phlegm coughed up by the baby may be yellow and sticky, and may also be accompanied by fever. At this time, some antibacterial drugs need to be used under the guidance of a doctor, so parents should take the baby to the hospital for medical treatment in time.

In addition to taking the medicine prescribed by the doctor, parents can also help their babies to spit out phlegm as an auxiliary treatment. Parents can let the child lie on his side. If the child is too young, hold the child in your arms and let the child lie on his side. Note that the back of the hand should be arched and the palm should be hollow. From top to bottom, from outside to inside, pat the child's back on both sides, alternately, pat each side for 3 to 5 minutes, 2 to 3 times a day.

At the same time, let your baby rest more. The room where the baby lives should be quiet and ventilated. The air should also be kept fresh. The temperature should be controlled at 20℃-24℃ and the humidity should be between 50%-60%.

When the baby coughs and has phlegm, parents should give the baby more warm boiled water. Sufficient water can effectively help the baby dilute the phlegm and facilitate the coughing of phlegm. And the diet should also be as light as possible, which is more effective for the baby's physical recovery. If the mother is still breastfeeding, she should also pay attention to her diet and drink more water.
