Children with allergic rhinitis cough all year round

When children have allergic rhinitis and perennial cough, it may be related to allergen stimulation. It is recommended to promptly identify the cause of the allergy and carry out appropriate treatment to relieve symptoms and avoid further aggravation of the condition.

1. Reasons

If a child has not had allergic diseases in the past, contact with certain allergens may induce allergic reactions in the body and cause allergic rhinitis, such as pollen. At this time, due to the inflammation of the nasal mucosa, the secretions may increase and flow back into the throat, resulting in coughing symptoms. In addition, it may be accompanied by sneezing, runny nose and other symptoms.

II. Treatment

1. Antihistamines: When a child shows the above-mentioned discomfort symptoms, it is necessary to actively look for allergens. If it is caused by pollen, protective measures should be taken. If necessary, loratadine tablets, cetirizine hydrochloride capsules and other drugs can be used for treatment as prescribed by the doctor.

2. Leukotriene receptor antagonists: This type of drug has a certain anti-allergic effect, can inhibit leukotriene receptors in tissues, and then play a role in relaxing bronchial smooth muscles, improving cough and other related symptoms. Common drugs include montelukast sodium chewable tablets, zafirlukast granules, etc.

3. Glucocorticoid drugs: For children with severe upper respiratory tract infections or lower respiratory tract infections, they can also be treated with drugs such as dexamethasone acetate tablets and budesonide inhalation aerosol under the guidance of a doctor, but the dosage should be strictly controlled to avoid affecting their health.

4. Others: In addition to the common medicines mentioned above, children can also take antitussive drugs such as compound pholcodine oral solution, dextromethorphan hydrobromide oral solution, etc. as prescribed by the doctor for symptomatic treatment and to promote recovery.

In daily life, parents should pay attention to relevant care and try to avoid letting children come into contact with allergens again. At the same time, they should also pay attention to strengthening nutritional supplements and appropriately increase the amount of water intake to help alleviate cough symptoms.
